Course Description
This course will offer students a comprehensive overview of Africa's social, economic, cultural, and political landscape. By delving into the complexities of contemporary African politics, it provides students with a transformative and culturally immersive educational experience, preparing them for University education.The course will also integrate experiential learning through West African cultural dance performances and hands-on drum circle sessions. Students will not merely study African culture but actively engage with it, immersing themselves in the rhythms and movements that define the region. Selected African musical instruments will be at their disposal, providing a unique opportunity to try their hand at these traditional art forms. The course will also emphasize more in-depth historical analysis through detailed case studies of several African states, including Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Botswana, Congo DRC, and South Africa.
By encouraging active participation in cultural activities, students will enhance their interpersonal skills, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity. These qualities are crucial for students entering University and are valuable assets for future academic plans. The course nurtures a well-rounded educational experience that not only broadens students' knowledge but also equips them with cultural competence that extends beyond the classroom.
